Our Hartlebury based client, a family owned design and manufacturing company are looking to recruit a MECHANICAL FITTER on an initial contract basis which may lead to a full-time position for the right candidate.
The company designs and builds specialist weighing and packaging systems for the food industry and supplies both UK and export customers. The role will involve assembly and fitting of piece parts into sub-assemblies which are subsequently mounted on a main machine frame. This will entail marking out, drilling, filing etc. Some remedial work may on occasions be necessary therefore competency in milling and turning would be advantageous. All materials used are either food quality plastic or stainless steel.
You must be able to:-
a) Correctly use and maintain the tools of the trade including power tools, test equipment and measuring instruments.
b) Fit bearings, shafts and other parts to an acceptable engineering standard.
c) Modify or adjust parts to fit, either by machining or filing.
d) Read and interpret engineering drawings.
e) Inspect and check fitted parts and sub-assemblies. Use safety equipment, and protective devices and equipment.
You must also have knowledge of:-
a) Standard engineering calculations.
b) Mechanical drawings and symbols.
c) Use of test equipment and measuring instruments.
d) Basic workshop practice and engineering materials.
e) Industrial hazards, safety and health precautions and environmental concerns.
f) Good workshop practice and regulations.
You are also expected to be apprenticeship served or have carried out a block-release craft course in an institute of vocational education or equivalent.
Working hours (39 per week) are 8.30 a.m. – 5.00p.m. Monday to Thursday & 8.30 a.m. – 4.00 p.m. Friday. Lunch 30 minutes plus 15 minute break morning and afternoon.
GOOD SALARY starting at £10.00 – £12.00 per hour depending on skills and experience.
